Moving Potential at Greene Correctional Facility
Facilitated by Sondra Loring

Moving Potential sessions involve a greeting, reading a poem, writing from a prompt, sharing our writing, practicing yoga, and exploring various dance improvisational structures, or scores. Participants alternate between crafting dances, engaging in Authentic Movement, witnessing each other dance, along with numerous other scores. We create notebooks that scrapbook the poems and reflections.

The aim of the workshops to create a safe space for system-impacted individuals to sense their bodies, minds and hearts, turning to their own experiences, whatever that may be, with friendliness. Participants are invited to express their thoughts, words and movements without fear of shame or punishment. Reading poetry, reflecting through their own writing, and dancing offers doorways to recognize and address complex trauma issues, with agency.
