Exploring the Abstract at Bare Hill Correctional Facility
Facilitated by Tina Lamour

The Exploring the Abstract workshop provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to abstract printmaking. Over the course of the workshop, individuals have the chance to explore and apply various techniques, including gelli plates, water-based inks, and mixed media. Participants engage in hands-on activities that allowed them to experiment with color, texture, and composition. The workshop aims to foster creativity and help each person develop their own artistic style while building essential technical skills. By encouraging experimentation and personal expression, the workshop enables participants to connect with their unique artistic perspectives.

Critical thinking and visual analysis serve as integral parts of the workshop. Participants discuss abstract art concepts, examine the work of prominent artists, and engage in constructive critiques of their peers’ work. These discussions help participants refine their artistic approaches and appreciate diverse styles.
